Anti- Racism Policy

Planet Ant Theatre, Inc. asserts that anti-racism is an ongoing commitment and practice. It involves examining the way our organization operates, who and how we hire, how people are compensated for their contributions to our organization, who receives funding and support, and other structural considerations. building anti-racist structures to let creativity grow and to allow individuals and communities to thrive within planet ant theatre must be central to all of the work that we do. Anti-racism is a practice, it is something we can only demonstrate by doing.

Planet Ant is centering anti-racism as a core value– a central tenet in our policies, structure, programming, philanthropy, communications, and workplace culture. our journey will be ongoing and foundational to our theater. We also recognize that this requires continued education and the sharing of resources.

We are committed to:

  • creating less hierarchy and more dialogue, inclusion, and empowerment.

  • listening and approaching the work with an attitude geared toward learning, without assumptions and predetermined solutions.

  • taking criticism without dispute.

  • acknowledging the structures that create, maintain, and uphold inequity.

  • intentionally making spaces for marginalized voices, stories, and bodies.

  • sponsoring/participating in programs of anti-racism training.

Planet Ant is also committed to consistently revisiting these core values to ensure that we are actively practicing/centering anti-racism in everything that we do.
