PROJECT: Create “greenscreen” studio in PA studio backroom.
The Mission: The studio backroom is a great place for a “lights on” greenscreen studio. This would include mounting lights in a simple ceiling grid, painting the wall with green chroma key paint, mounting sound foam on the walls, mounting a flat screen TV for studio/class use, and installation of carpet tiles.
With the addition of dedicated internet this space would be quite useful for student rentals/live streaming classes.
PROJECT: Organize the walkway to the stage from greenroom
The Greenroom walkway to the stage is cluttered with wood and miscellenous storage. We need to go through all items and make a decision on what items need to be kept and what can be thrown out. Items here can likely feed another project that needs wood or materials.
PROJECT: Insulate and drywall outside walls in Ant Hall
The Mission: The hall has several walls that leak our heating and cooling to the outside world quite a bit. Putting in simple drywall with insulation would change the HVAC bills drastically. The current cinderblock construction hardly provides any insulation.
Currently the 12ft walls that need insulation are the following: ~15 feet Hall Front room, ~15 feet Hall Office, 12 feet other office wall, ~15 feet Green Room wall ~12 feet other green room wall.
NOTE: Project needs final measurements before purchase of items
PROJECT: Fix up the Studio Backyard
The Mission: The studio backyard has potential. Let’s get it cleaned up and made into something that has more privacy. This project is for installation of a privacy fence on the existing metal fence, and general clean up and fixing of the planters and yard.
Planning: Remount the glass door between Hall and Indy
The Mission: Previously we had a glass door that seperated the bathroom hallway from the main ticketing area of the Ant Hall. This doo hinge broke and the person hired to install a new hinge told us that there wasn’t enough room to mount the door on the side that it currently is. This project would take that existing glass door and flip the mounting to the other side of the wall. This would involved removing the door casing and reinstalling it facing the other direction.
This project is only for flipping the casing to the door and does not include installation of the infinity hinge (same hinge used on the other glass door). Hinge cost is still unknown.
PROJECT: Create locked Film Equipment Closet in Studio
The Mission: The studio space currently has a large closet area separating the two rooms. This proposal is for installation of a door that locks with a code to store and manage all the film equipment in one place. This would include the cost of a door, completion of drywall to the celling, installation of a code based door handle, and some simple lighting.
Eventually shelving and a check in/out table would be included.
PROJECT: Drywall upper area in front room of Ant Hall
The Mission: The front room of the Ant Hall is a big problem for sound bleed. The upper area (currently the back of the equipment storage area) needs to be drywalled and studded to block sound for the rest of the hall. The wall area will need to be framed with 2×4s and have drywall applied. The area is approx 9ft in the air and will need ladder use to help facilitate the construction. The wall can also be reached from the equipment storage. There is currently some wood in that area that doesn’t seem to be doing much.
This project is just for the initial construction and does not include painting, sanding, or mudding.
PROJECT: Remount Ant Hall Speakers to remove them from stage picture
The Mission: The speakers on the Ant Hall stage are a visual obstacle to the viewing of the stage. The need to be moved further to the sides of the stage. The speakers are heavy. Michael Langdon is aware of where the speakers should be placed
PLANNING: Black Masking for Stage in Ant Hall
The Mission: The stage in the hall has lots of visible ceiling, wires and miscellaneous items that are lit when the stage is lit. black masking around the frame of the stage would help this quite a bit. Cloth or hard surface masking would clean up the stage picture so that audiences are looking into the ceiling when the lights come up. Masking will help block off all the junk that the audience shouldn’t see. This project needs a planning day to figure out what material to use and if there are any items that need to be purchased.
PROJECT: Install Strip Lights in Hall Backstage walkway
The Mission: The walkway to the performer area in the hall is quite dark. Light strip lighting was installed before but was put in without any protection and was quickly damaged. This project proposes to install a plastic cover along with light strip lighting that could easily make the walkway safer.
PROJECT: Replace the facing on the studio outside
The Mission: The costume shop is currently a disaster zone. We have wood and brackets ready to go, but we need a sturdy set of shelves built along the north wall so we can finally organize the prop bins.
